Why I built Sparks Flow

Built by someone who has lived it

As a mother to three neurodivergent children and the owner of two disability support provider organisations, I understand the challenges families face when they are trying to find quality support workers.

After years of recruiting through marketplace platforms, the endless fees, the competition with other families, the lack of control, I knew there had to be a better way.

Sparks Flow was born from that need. We are not another marketplace charging ongoing fees. We give families and providers the tools to recruit, hire and manage their own support teams directly. Everything we learned through Sparks Academy, our community of more than 2000 families and providers, is built into the platform.

Every family deserves support workers who truly understand their needs. Sparks Flow makes that possible by putting families back in control of their own recruitment.

Important to know

Sparks Flow is a coordination tool for running your own support team. It is deliberately narrow, and it is not an employment, payroll or HR service. It does not employ workers, pay wages, or handle tax, superannuation, award rates, workers compensation or insurance, and it does not decide whether your worker is an employee or a contractor. Those responsibilities are yours, and the payroll and award side is best handled by a specialist payroll service or bookkeeper. To work out employee versus contractor, start with the ATO’s employee or contractor decision tool. For what your plan allows, and your obligations as an employer or engager of workers, check with the NDIS (your planner or plan manager), the Fair Work Ombudsman, the ATO and your own accountant.
